SOULvation are a live Soul, Motown, Funk and Disco function band based in the North West, playing classic songs from the 60's through to the present day.

We are guaranteed to have people singing, dancing and having a good time from the first song to the last.

All of our songs are classics and we take you on a musical journey. From the birth of soul and Motown in the 60's, through to disco and funk in the 70's and 80's and bring things right up to date with modern tunes inspired by the 60's and 70's like Uptown Funk, Valerie and Mercy. If you would like us to include some pop and/or rock we can happily perform that too, just let us know at the time of booking.

We formed in 2012 and are a very experienced 5-piece band, comprising of a female lead singer, keyboard player and backing singer, drummer, guitarist and bass player. Vocal harmonies are a vital part of so many of the songs we perform and our singers harmonise very sweetly. Equally at home playing weddings, birthdays, partys, corporate events, pubs or clubs.

We have £10M Public Liability Insurance and all our equipment is PAT Tested. We have our own top quality PA system and lighting. We can include a full DJ service and have a library of over 10,000 songs covering all tastes.

Please have a look around the site to learn more about us and contact us to discuss a booking or ask any questions, email soulvationband@hotmail.co.uk or telephone 07963 042481.

Kev - Bass

Kev has been playing bass over 35 years in a variety of original, cover, function and tribute bands. He was a teenage rock and heavy metal fan who discovered soul and Motown via The Commitments and Blues Brothers films, opening up a new musical world he continues to explore.

Making up half of SOULvation's rhythm section along with Paul, they aim to have the audience moving and grooving from the start to the end of every show, with their tight and funky playing.

Bob - Guitar

Bob  started playing blues guitar aged 15 and played guest spots alongside his guitar tutor’s band The Roach Twins in local pubs.

He expanded his musical vocabulary in his late teens learning rock, funk and jazz guitar styles and continues to enjoy exploring and playing chord voicings and rhythmic phrases found in soul, funk and jazz.

He was also a member of progressive rock band Strangefish for over 25 years.

John - Keyboards and Backing Vocals

John loves playing music and has played a variety of instruments since the age of 11, playing his first gig at age 17.

Live performance is a passion and he's played in a number of bands across the UK, and has gigged in Europe and the US.

John loves all kinds of music, but particularly enjoys the energy and audience participation of Soul music.

Paul - Drums

Paul is a multi-instrumentalist who began his musical endeavours at the age of 6 when he discovered the drums. Raised from a large family, the diverse tastes of music he was exposed to from an early age were a rich source of inspiration.

At the age of 11, Paul discovered the bass guitar and keyboards, which enabled him to further widen his musical knowledge beyond rhythm.

Paul’s first live performances were playing Big Band Jazz concerts but he soon gravitated toward Progressive Rock / Progressive Metal and joined two bands in his late teens performing original material, which kept him busy during his time studying music at University.

Since then, Paul has played in a variety of bands, playing many styles including Folk, Prog, Jazz, Orchestral, Blues, Musical Theatre, Soul, Pop, Rock, Electronica, Grunge and Metal, playing a variety of instruments in a variety of countries.

Paul also has years of experience as a private music tutor teaching drums, bass, and music theory up to grade 8, plus beginner guitar and keyboard lessons.

Paul’s favourite musical environment is the recording studio, where he has recorded countless sessions for bands and for his own solo project https://pdflood.bandcamp.com which focuses on electronic/ambient/cinematic/post-rock styles.

TL;DR Paul hits things with bits of wood for SOULation.
